Score sheet for Qwixx
A Qwixx score sheet scores each color row by how many crosses it holds, not by the numbers you crossed: 1 cross is 1 point, 5 crosses are 15, 8 are 36. Add your four rows, take off 5 for every penalty, and the highest total wins.

A quick dice game for the whole table. Everyone crosses numbers off four colored rows, always left to right, and the longer a row gets, the more it pays. Cross nothing on your own roll and it costs you 5.

How to play Qwixx, in brief
On every roll, everyone can cross off numbers in four colored rows on their own sheet. Longer rows pay more; highest total wins.
- Take a sheetYou need a sheet each and 6 dice: 2 white, red, yellow, green, blue. First to roll a 6 starts.
- Cross left to rightEach cross goes right of your last one in that row; skipped numbers are lost.
- Roll and crossTake turns rolling all 6. Everyone may cross the white dice’s sum in one row; the roller may also cross one white plus one colored die in that color’s row.
- Penalties and locksIf the roller crosses nothing, they take a penalty. With 5 or more crosses in a row, you may cross its last number to lock that color for all. A 4th penalty or 2nd lock ends the game.
Count the crosses, then read the table.
Every cross in a row is worth more than the one before it, so long rows pay best. Locking a row adds one more cross. Penalties are the only thing that takes points away.
What a row is worth
| Crosses in a row | Points |
|---|---|
| 1 cross | 1 |
| 2 crosses | 3 |
| 3 crosses | 6 |
| 4 crosses | 10 |
| 5 crossesThe fewest you need before you may lock the row | 15 |
| 6 crosses | 21 |
| 7 crosses | 28 |
| 8 crosses | 36 |
| 9 crosses | 45 |
| 10 crosses | 55 |
| 11 crosses | 66 |
| 12 crossesEvery number in the row, and the lock | 78 |
| Each penalty boxOnly the active player takes one, after crossing nothing on their own roll | -5 |
- Cross left to rightIn each color row, a new cross always goes to the right of your last one. Numbers you skip stay skipped.
- Count each row’s crossesRead the points off the table, not the numbers you crossed: 6 crosses are 21, 8 are 36.
- Count the lock as a crossWith at least 5 crosses in a row, crossing its last number (red or yellow 12, green or blue 2) also crosses the lock. That is one more cross, and the color closes for everyone.
- Take off the penalties5 for each penalty box you crossed. Add the four rows, subtract the penalties, and that is your total.
- Stop at 4 penalties or 2 locksThe game ends at once when anyone crosses a fourth penalty box, or when a second row is locked. The highest total wins; the rules give no tiebreaker.
Priya wins by a single point.
Three finished sheets. You have just crossed your fourth penalty box, which ends the game at once. Dev locked red, the best row on the table, but his two penalties cost him the game. This is the game on the Scorepad above.

Common Qwixx scoring mistakes
- Scoring the number of crossesA row’s points come from the table, so 8 crosses are worth 36, not 8.
- Forgetting that the lock is a crossLocking a row with 6 numbers crossed makes 7 crosses, worth 28.
- Giving a penalty on someone else’s rollOnly the active player takes a penalty, and only after crossing nothing at all on their own roll.
- Locking a row too earlyYou need at least 5 crosses in a row before you may cross its last number.
Qwixx scoring, answered
- How do you score Qwixx?
- Count the crosses in each color row and read their points from the table: 1 cross is 1, 4 are 10, 8 are 36. Add the four rows and subtract 5 for each penalty box.
- Does the lock count as a cross in Qwixx?
- Yes. Crossing a row’s last number also crosses its lock, which counts as one more cross, so 6 numbers and the lock make 7 crosses, worth 28.
- When does a game of Qwixx end?
- The moment any player crosses a fourth penalty box, or a second color row is locked. Then everyone adds up their sheet, and the highest total wins.

Score another game
The full crosses table is printed on the score sheet in Gamewright’s rules; the other sources quote only some of its values, and those match. The German rules add that a player with fewer than 5 crosses in a row may not cross its last number, even when someone else locks it on the same roll. Rules checked on 19 October 2026 against Gamewright’s rules of play, the German rules and UltraBoardGames. Qwixx is a trademark of Nürnberger-Spielkarten-Verlag, published in the US by Gamewright.
