Tabletales is a cozy, private keepsake for your board-game nights, not social media and not a leaderboard. This policy explains, in plain language, what we keep, why, and the control you have over it. Tabletales is operated by Rosen Ventures LLC.
The short version
The plain-English promises. The full detail follows below.
Your memories are never public.A night is visible to the people who were there, and by default your crew can browse the nights you've saved. Switch your profile to Private for less, or set any single night to Locked or Hidden.
We never sell your data, and never use it for ads.No advertising, no data brokers, no tracking you across other apps.
We never touch your contacts. We only text someone if you type their number and confirm the message yourself.
Your phone number stays private.Adding it is optional. We use it only to help friends find you, never in a memory, never sold, and never for marketing.
You can delete everything, anytime.Delete a memory, or your whole account and its contents, right from the app.
Who this is from
Tabletales (operated by Rosen Ventures LLC) provides the Tabletales mobile app. If you have questions about this policy or your data, reach us at admin@tabletales.gg.
What we collect, and why
We only collect what the app needs to do its job, remember your game nights and let you share them with the people who were there.
What
Why we have it
Account (name, email)
When you sign in with Apple or email, we receive your email address (or Apple's private relay address) and create your account with an automatically generated username (@handle).
Your content
The game nights you save: games, scores, dates, places you type, photos you upload, notes, and the names of the people you add (crew and guests).
Invite phone numbers
Only if you choose to invite a guest by text, you enter that person's number. We pass it to our SMS provider to deliver that single invitation and do not retain it.
Your own phone number (optional)
Only if you turn on "let people find me by my number." We use it solely to match you with friends who have your number, keep it secure, and never display it in the app, sell it, or use it for marketing.
Photos you add
Kept in private storage and shown only to people who share that memory. We read a photo's date to place it in time; we do not collect its location.
Basic technical data
Standard information needed to run the service (authentication tokens, notification tokens, error logs). No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
How we use information
To save, display, and let you revisit your memories.
To sign you in and keep your account secure.
To deliver the single invitation text you ask us to send, and the notifications you opt into.
Text messages (SMS)
Invitations are user-initiated and one-time. A text is sent only after you enter a recipient's number and confirm a preview of the message. We pass the number to our SMS provider to deliver that single message and do not retain it. Recipients can reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help. The full messaging program terms (program name, frequency, rates, support, and opt-out) are in our Terms of Service. Message and data rates may apply.
No mobile information is sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers and messaging consent are used solely to deliver the invitation you requested.
How your information is shared
With your table and your crew. A night is always visible to the people who were at it. Two independent controls govern anyone else: your profile is Open by default, so people you've shared a night with can browse your game-night history (switch it to Private and they see only the nights you both attended); and each night has its own setting, Open (people who've played with someone who was there can view it), Locked (it appears in histories but only the people who were there can open it), or Hidden (only the people who were there, no one else knows it exists). Only the person who created a night can change its setting or delete it; everyone at the table can edit its games, scores, players, and photos. Memories are never posted publicly or to the open internet.
Service providers (processors). We use trusted providers strictly to run Tabletales: Supabase (database, authentication, and photo storage), Twilio (text-message delivery), Apple and Google (sign-in and notification delivery), and BoardGameGeek (game details). They process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.
Legal. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect people's safety.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
How we protect information
Access is enforced on the server with row-level security, so people only ever see nights they attended, or that your profile and each night's setting allow, never the open internet.
Photos are kept in a private store and served through expiring, signed links.
Data is encrypted in transit, and access to it is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping your keepsakes safe and private is core to how Tabletales is built.
Your choices and rights
Edit or delete any memory you own, at any time, from the app.
Delete your account and its contents from You → Account → Delete your account. Nights you shared are handed to another person at the table so their copy of the memory survives.
Set your profile to Open or Private in Settings, controlling whether your crew can browse all your nights or only the ones you both attended, and set any night to Open, Locked, or Hidden while editing it.
Turn "find me by my number" on or off, and stop invitation texts anytime by replying STOP.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (to access, correct, or export your data). Email us and we'll help.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, so your memories are there when you come back. When you delete a memory or your account, the associated data is removed from our systems, apart from limited records we may need to keep for legal or security reasons.
Children
Tabletales isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, surface it in the app. Continuing to use Tabletales after a change means you accept the updated policy.
