Golf card game score sheet
A golf card game score sheet has nine rows, one for each hole. After every hand, add up your six cards column by column: a king is 0, a 2 is minus 2, jacks and queens are 10, and a matching pair in a column scores 0. After nine holes, the lowest total wins.
- 2 to 6 players
- Six cards each, two rows of three
- Nine holes
- Lowest total wins

Six-Card Golf
Each player keeps six cards in two rows of three and swaps in better cards to drive the total down, with matching pairs in a column cancelling out; nine deals make a round of golf and the lowest total wins.

How to play Six-Card Golf, in brief
Low scores win in Golf, as in the sport. You play nine deals, called holes, swapping cards into a grid of six to bring its total down.
- Lay out six cardsDeal everyone 6 cards face down in two rows of three and turn any 2 of yours face up. The rest is the stock; turn its top card up as the discard pile.
- Draw and swapTake the top card of the stock or the discard pile and swap it, face up, for one of your six; the old card goes on the discard pile. A stock card can be discarded instead.
- End the holeThe hand ends once one player’s six cards are all face up. Then score the grids.
- Play nine holesAfter nine hands, the lowest total wins.
Read your grid one column at a time.
Every card in your grid counts its value, and two equal cards in the same column cancel out. Turn every card up, then add the three columns.
What each card is worth
| Card | Points |
|---|---|
| King | 0 |
| Ace | 1 |
| 2The only card below zero | Minus 2 |
| 3 to 10A 7 is worth 7 | Face value |
| Jack, Queen | 10 |
| A pair in one columnTwo equal cards, one above the other, even two 2s | 0 |
- Turn every card upWhen one player’s sixth card is face up, the hand ends, or everyone else takes one last turn if that is your table’s rule.
- Cancel the pairsTwo equal cards in the same column score 0 together. A pair of 2s is 0 too, not minus 4.
- Add the three columnsAdd up the rest of your cards. That is your score for the hole, and lower is better.
- Play nine holesNine deals make a round of golf. Add them up, and the lowest total wins. The rules give no tiebreak.

Common Six-Card Golf scoring mistakes
- Scoring a pair of 2s as minus 4Equal cards in a column cancel to 0, and that includes 2s. Two 2s do better in different columns.
- Cancelling pairs in a rowUnder the standard rules only a pair in the same column scores 0, one card above the other.
- Counting a king as 10Kings are worth 0. Only jacks and queens are 10.
- Crowning the best holeOne low hole wins nothing on its own. The game is the total over all nine.
Six-Card Golf scoring, answered
- How do you score the golf card game?
- Add up your six cards: aces 1, 2s minus 2, 3 to 10 at face value, jacks and queens 10, kings 0. Two equal cards in the same column cancel to 0, and the lowest total after nine holes wins.
- Do two 2s in a column cancel in golf?
- Yes. A matching pair in a column scores 0, even a pair of 2s that would otherwise be worth minus 4.
- What is a king worth in the golf card game?
- 0 points. Kings and 2s are the best cards to keep, and a jack or queen at 10 is the worst.

House rules vary: Board Game Arena cancels pairs in a row as well, some tables add two jokers at minus 2 (then 2s count plus 2), and some play 18 holes. Rules checked on 19 October 2026 against Bicycle Cards, Pagat and Wikipedia.
