How to score Agricola
Agricola scoring happens once, after the harvest that ends round 14. Every farm is scored category by category: fields, pastures, crops and each kind of animal earn -1 to 4, then rooms, family, cards and stables add, while empty spaces and begging cards take away.
- 1 to 5 players
- Nothing scores during play
- Scored after round 14

How to play Agricola, in brief
You have 14 rounds to grow a farm that feeds a growing family. The best farm on the scoring chart wins.
- Set up your farmEach farmyard starts with a two-room hut and 2 family members. The starting player takes 2 food, the others 3.
- Place a person, take an actionEach round adds an action. Take turns placing one person at a time on a free action space and using it, such as plowing a field.
- Feed everyone at the harvestAfter rounds 4, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 14, harvest your fields and pay 2 food per person (1 for a newborn); each missing food costs a begging card. Then 2 or more animals of a kind breed one baby, if there’s room.
- Score after round 14The game ends with the last harvest, and farms are scored.
Every part of the farm counts, even the empty parts.
Nothing is scored during play. After the last harvest, each player looks up their farm on the scoring chart, one category at a time. Having none of something costs a point and no category pays more than 4, so spreading out pays.

Common Agricola scoring mistakes
- Counting fenced spaces instead of pasturesA pasture is one fenced area, whatever its size. Each pasture scores once.
- Forgetting the crops on your fieldsGrain and vegetables still sitting on your fields count, along with the ones in your supply.
- Skipping the minus points-1 for each crop or animal you have none of (each animal separately), -1 per unused space and -3 per begging card.
- Scoring wooden rooms or unfenced stablesNeither scores. An unfenced stable does stop its space counting as unused, though.
Agricola scoring, answered
- How does scoring work in Agricola?
- Nothing scores during play. After round 14, each farm is scored from a chart: fields, pastures, grain, vegetables, sheep, wild boar and cattle earn -1 to 4 each, then rooms, family, stables and cards add points while unused spaces and begging cards subtract.
- What is a good score in Agricola?
- The Revised Edition rulebook calls 30 points respectable for a first game, and says experienced players aim for 40 or more.
- How do you break a tie in Agricola?
- In the Revised Edition, the tied player with more building resources left in their supply wins. The 2007 rules let tied players share the win.

Agricola score sheet
Print one for the end of the game: a box for every line of the chart, for up to five farms, with the final at the bottom.
Score another game
The 2007 rules let tied players share the win or play again; the 2016 Revised Edition breaks a tie on building resources left in supply and calls begging cards begging markers (still -3 each). The family game scores the same way, and the solo series asks for 50 points in its first game and more in each one after. Rules checked on 19 October 2026 against the 2007 rulebook, the Revised Edition rulebook and Board Game Arena. Agricola is a trademark of Lookout Games. Tabletales is not affiliated with it.
